Your Sahara journey begins with a morning departure from Marrakech, traveling in a comfortable 4×4 through the High Atlas Mountains. The road ascends to the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering sweeping views of towering peaks, terraced farmland, and Berber villages.
Your first visit takes you to the Kasbah of Telouet, a historic residence of the Glaoui family renowned for its traditional Moroccan interiors. Continuing through the scenic Ounila Valley, you reach Aït Benhaddou, a famous fortified ksar recognized by UNESCO for its well-preserved architecture and cinematic history. After an exploration and lunch stop, travel onward through Ouarzazate and cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains to reach Agdz. Dinner and overnight stay in Agdz.
Day 2: Agdz – Drâa Valley – Zagora – Tamegrout – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga Dunes
After breakfast, continue the journey south following the long palm groves and ksour of the Drâa Valley. Pass through Zagora before reaching Tamegrout, where you explore the ancient manuscript library and traditional pottery workshops.
Proceed to M’hamid, the final settlement before the open desert. From here, the road disappears and tracks lead deeper into the Sahara. Arrive at the vast and remote Erg Chigaga dunes, rising to 300 meters high. In the late afternoon, enjoy a camel trek through the dunes as the sun sets, before spending the evening in a comfortable desert camp with traditional dinner, Berber music, and peaceful stargazing.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Full Day in the Sahara Desert
Wake up to one of the most beautiful sunrises in Morocco. After breakfast, spend the day discovering the true essence of the Sahara. This time allows you to relax, climb the dunes for extraordinary views, try sandboarding, or enjoy a 4×4 exploration of the surrounding desert landscapes. Visits with local nomadic families can be arranged to learn about their traditions and lifestyle. Dinner and a second night in the desert camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the dunes.
